FAQs
About Adjoaa
What is Adjoaa?
Adjoaa is an online marketplace for contemporary African fashion, connecting customers around the world with independent designers and brands from Africa and the diaspora. We curate clothing, accessories and lifestyle products from talented designers and make them accessible through a single shopping experience.
Many of the products available on Adjoaa are made-to-order or pre-order, allowing designers to produce more responsibly, reduce waste, and focus on craftsmanship rather than mass production.
Do you have physical stores?
No. Adjoaa is an online-only platform and currently does not operate physical stores, showrooms, or collection points. All orders must be placed through our website and delivered to your chosen address.
Why are many products made to order?
Many of the designers we work with produce items after an order is placed rather than manufacturing large quantities in advance.
This approach helps reduce waste, avoids unnecessary overproduction, supports independent designers, and contributes to a more sustainable fashion industry.
Because of this, production may take approximately 10 business days before your order is shipped.
Orders
What payment options do you accept?
We accept all forms of Visa, Mastercard, Zip Pay, Stripe and PayPal for online purchases.
When will you process my order?
Orders are processed during our normal business hours, Monday to Friday, excluding public and bank holidays.
Orders placed on weekends or public holidays will be processed on the next working business day. Please keep this in mind when estimating production and delivery timelines.
Can I cancel my order?
We begin processing orders quickly to ensure timely delivery. If you wish to cancel your order, please email hello@adjoaa.com as soon as possible.
While we will do our best to accommodate cancellation requests, we cannot guarantee cancellations once production has started or an order has been prepared for shipment.
If your order has already been shipped, it cannot be cancelled
I made a mistake. Can I change my order?
Please email hello@adjoaa.com and include as many details about the changes required as possible, along with the first and last names and email address associated with the order.
We will do our best to accommodate requests before production or shipment begins. However, once an item has entered production or been shipped, changes may no longer be possible.
If you are unsatisfied with your purchase after it has been delivered, please refer to our returns policy below.
Can I custom order a product?
If the product you want does not have an option for customisation, email us at hello@adjoaa.com and we will let you know if your request can be accommodated and any additional charges that might be involved.
Do you offer discount deals?
All Adjoaa customers receive 10% off their first purchase.
Subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on social media to be the first to hear about promotions, new arrivals and exclusive offers.
I have a discount code. Where do I use it?
Apply your discount code in the ‘Promotion Code’ field at checkout.
How long are gift cards valid for?
There is no expiry date on our gift cards.
I haven't received a confirmation email, what should I do?
If you haven't received an order confirmation email, it is likely the result of one or two things:
Your order wasn’t placed and processed.
You have entered an incorrect email address with your order.
If you are certain that the email address linked to your order is correct, please check the spam folder in your emails for your order confirmation. If you still cannot locate an order confirmation, please email us at hello@adjoaa.com.
Shipping & Delivery
How long will it take to receive my order?
Many products on Adjoaa are made- to-order to order.
Please note that total delivery time consists of:
You will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information once your order has been dispatched.
Where is my order shipped from?
All orders are shipped directly from the brands and designers on ADJOAA. Your order will arrive in ADJOAA packaging.
What packaging do you use?
All Adjoaa orders using recyclable mailer bags from our logistics partner like DHL or our own packaging.
Why hasn't my order shipped yet?
Many Adjoaa products are made to order. This means that production begins after your purchase is confirmed.
As a result, your order may spend approximately 10 business days in production before it is shipped.
If your order has exceeded the expected production timeframe, please contact hello@adjoaa.com and we will investigate further.
What carrier do you use for domestic shipping?
We use local postal services and affiliate courier companies for most small and medium-sized orders.
Larger packages are generally delivered via courier services. We use express delivery for addresses in the US, UK, Europe, North America and the Caribbean - where available.
If an item in your order becomes unavailable or delayed, our customer service team will contact you to discuss available options.
How do I know my order has been shipped? How can I track my order?
Once your order has been shipped, you will automatically receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number.
If you have not received a shipping confirmation email within the expected timeframe, please contact hello@adjoaa.com and we will be happy to assist.
If I order multiple items, will they come in individual shipments?
Not always.
Because Adjoaa works with multiple independent designers and brands, items within the same order may be shipped separately.
If your order is dispatched in multiple shipments, you will receive separate tracking numbers for each package.
My tracking number doesn’t work or is invalid.
Tracking numbers may take up to 24 hours after creation to become active.
In many cases, tracking information will only update after the package reaches the carrier's sorting facility.
We recommend waiting at least 24 hours before attempting to track your parcel.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship to over 100 destinations serviced by DHL and our logistics partners.
If your country is not available during checkout, please contact hello@adjoaa.com.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping costs vary depending on your location and order value.
We offer free domestic and international shipping on orders above qualifying thresholds. Please refer to the delivery information during checkout for more accurate information on the delivery cost.
What currency will I pay in?
You can choose from a selection of supported currencies during checkout. If your local currency is unavailable, payment will be processed in British Pounds (GBP).
What carrier do you use for international shipping?
International shipments are fulfilled using DHL, local postal services, and selected logistics partners.
Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes?
Orders shipped outside the United Kingdom may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, VAT, and other fees imposed by local authorities.
These charges are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in the purchase price unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Unfortunately, Adjoaa has no control over these charges and cannot predict the amount that may be charged by customs authorities.
What happens if my order is delayed by customs?
International shipments may occasionally be delayed during customs inspection.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
Eligible full-priced ready to ship (not made-to-order or pre-order) items may be returned within seven (7) days of delivery for a refund, provided they are:
- Unworn
- Unwashed
- In brand-new condition
- Returned with all original tags attached
- Returned with original packaging where applicable
Made-to-order, customised, personalised, and specially commissioned products are for return unless faulty, defective or incorrectly supplied.
A return processing fee of £7 or equivalent in your local currency will be deducted from approved refunds.
Can I return a made-to-order item?
Because many Adjoaa products are made specifically for each customer after an order is placed, made-to-order items may not be eligible for return.
Where a made-to-order item is eligible for return, this will be stated on the product page.
How do I return my order?
To request a return:
- Submit your return request through our returns portal.
- Ensure your request is made within seven (7) days of receiving your order.
- Package the item securely with all original tags attached.
- Include a copy of your original order confirmation.
- Follow the instructions provided by our returns team.
Can I exchange an item?
We do not currently offer direct exchanges.
If your item is eligible for return, you may return it in accordance with our returns policy and receive either a refund or store credit, depending on the return option available at the time of processing.
Store credit can be used towards the purchase of a replacement item, different size, colour, or style.
This approach allows us to provide a simpler and more efficient experience while continuing to support our network of independent designers.
Can I return my product after 7 days?
Unfortunately, no.
We encourage customers to inspect and try on their items promptly after delivery.
Requests submitted after seven (7) days from delivery will generally not qualify for return or exchange.
What if I receive a faulty or damaged item?
If you receive a faulty, damaged, or incorrect item, please contact hello@adjoaa.com immediately and include photographs where possible.
Subject to review, we will arrange an exchange, replacement, repair, or refund as appropriate.
How long does a return or exchange take to process?
Once your returned item has been received and inspected, we aim to process returns within 3–5 business days.
The time it takes for the refund to appear in your account may vary depending on your payment provider.
Will I be charged for shipping on my return or exchange?
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item is faulty, damaged, or supplied incorrectly.
Size, Fit & Product Care
Do you have a sizing guide?
Yes. You can view our size guide on the relevant product pages. If there is no brand specific size chart included in the product page, then the standard sizing is in UK sizing.
We know, no two bodies are the same, so you can also use the note section at checkout to provide us with your measurement [Bust, Waist, Hips, In-seam in cm or inches] and we will confirm pass this on to our brand partner or communicate your equivalent sizing based on the brand in US or EU equivalent.
How do I choose the right size?
We recommend reviewing the brand-specific size guide available on each product page before placing your order. If you need additional assistance, please contact hello@adjoaa.com and our team will be happy to help.
How do I care for my purchased product?
We generally recommend hand washing or using a gentle machine wash cycle.
Please always follow the care instructions provided on the garment label, as care requirements may vary by designer and fabric.
Sustainability & Responsible Fashion
How does Adjoaa approach sustainability?
We believe fashion can be both beautiful and responsible.
Many of the brands featured on Adjoaa produce in smaller quantities or on a made-to-order basis, helping reduce waste and overproduction.
We also use recycled packaging or compostable mailing bags wherever possible.
Why does Adjoaa support made-to-order fashion?
Made-to-order production helps reduce excess inventory, minimises waste, and allows designers to focus on quality craftsmanship rather than mass production.
By producing only what is needed, designers can operate more sustainably while creating unique products for customers around the world.
Wholesale
How do I become a stockist or retailer?
The Adjoaa team is always looking for great stores and boutiques to partner with in support of our talented community of designers.
If you are interested in carrying products from our designers, please contact us at hello@adjoaa.com for further information.
