Abiola Olusola, a native of Nigeria, discovered her passion for fashion while studying at Istituto Marangoni Paris, where she earned a BFA in fashion design in 2015. Drawn to a minimalist aesthetic that exudes femininity, functionality, and a touch of inherent sensuality, she embarked on a journey to combine these elements with African subcultures and craftsmanship.
In 2017, Abiola Olusola proudly launched her eponymous brand, a contemporary women's ready-to-wear and bespoke line. Her designs captivate with their distinctive blend of minimalist cuts, sleek architectural influences, and the rich tapestry of African fashion. Since its inception, the brand has garnered praise from both critics and consumers, earning Abiola Olusola the title of "One to Watch" by Guardian Life in 2018. The premier collection quickly found a home in Temple Muse, a prestigious black-owned business located in the heart of Lagos. Abiola Olusola's partnership with fabric giant Vlisco and her selection as a finalist for the Alara Emerge Fashion Fund further solidify her position in the industry.
Having showcased her SS18 collection at Lagos Fashion Design Week in 2017 and her SS19 collection at GTB Fashion Weekend in 2018, Abiola Olusola's talent continues to be recognized. She was nominated for the prestigious Designer of the Year award by Fashion's Finest Africa in 2019. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Abiola Olusola remains committed to collaborating with local African craftsmen and women, emphasising the integration of traditional fabrics and values into contemporary living. Through her dedication to empowering artisans, adopting sustainable practices, and crafting each garment meticulously from fabric to finished product, she propels the African narrative forward, creating a significant impact on the fashion industry.
