Step into the world of ELNAK Recycle, a fashion brand driven by a revolutionary spirit and a vision to transform textile waste management in Africa. Previously known as the 1997 Thrift Store, we are on a mission to help textile-centered businesses and households incorporate sustainable practices, promoting minimalism and essentialism.
In 2020, our founder, Emma Forson, embarked on a one-year journey with the Ashesi Venture Incubator, researching the fashion industry in Ghana. She discovered a lack of textile waste management facilities in Ghana and other parts of Africa, leading to an alarming surge in textile waste pollution caused by overconsumption and increased imports of secondhand clothes.
ELNAK was born in 2021, driven by the desire to make a positive impact on our environment and our people. By mid-2022, we had collected over 5000 pounds of textile waste to be repurposed and donated over 800 pounds of clothes in good condition. Our decluttering services received rave reviews, and we proudly partnered with 6 fashion houses and collaborated with three feature artists to upcycle our collectibles. Moreover, we provided employment to 4 Kayayo women, empowering them with sustainable job opportunities.
Join us on our mission to create a closed fashion economy in Africa. Explore our repurposed collections on ADJOAA and be a part of the sustainable fashion movement. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter, greener future for our beloved continent.
